Ethnographic Notes

Another courting scene in which Black Road is dressed identically to Plate 42, except that a red circle is painted around his face, and he carries probably the same dragoon saber as in Plate 73, with the feathered banner removed. The lady wears a dress of red gingham cloth, and is wrapped in a dark wool blanket. Long earrings made of dentalia and abalone shells hang against the blanket.
