An elk cow (in Lakota, unpan---Buechel, 1970: 507). Compare Plate 78. The absence of the
black, dorsal tip on one ear (seen from the ventral surface) shows that the alert animal is listening in two directions. The frontal depiction of the head is unusual, and may be related to the full-face depiction of the Elk Dreamer figure in Plate 71, the only frontal depiction of a human figure in the ledger.
