Both have tufts of hair that stick up from the skull. These resemble the elk of Plate 5. Both have arrows protruding from their rears. Like the skunks, the arrows may penetrate the far sides of the animals. The feathered ends are all that are visible of the arrows, and the red coloring by the points of impact indicates mortal wounds. The entire page is lead pencil (indicating gray or black). He has loose hair, no face paint, and in his outstretched hands he holds a quirt (left hand) and a bow and reins (right hand). The quirt is touching the rear of the horse and indicates the rider is urging the horse foreword. His hatch-marked shirt is fabric�gingham or plaid. His breech clout is visible, but no legs, and he sits on a saddle blanket. The horse is lead-pencil fill (indicating black or gray). The artist does not show hooves.
