Two bighorn ewes and a lamb

Ethnographic Notes

Two bighorn ewes and a lamb, in Lakota, hecinskayapi. The head of the lamb is a rare instance where this artist lost his usual, unerring accuracy in depicting the anatomy of Plains animals. It is as if his hand automatically drew the standard profile of a horse's head.
