Herbert Allen was 16 when his father moved to Sheridan. When he took over his father Henry's Sheridan emporium, "At The Sign of The Teepee," in the early 1900's, Bert carried paintings, among those two famous artists, Joseph H. Sharp and Bill Gollings. Not only was the store known by stationery concerns all over the United States, as it sold a full line of that merchandise, but the Indian department had marvelous blankets, beadwork, and Navajo artifacts.
